This is machine is manufactured by Hamann, which was a subsidiary of Deutsche Telefonwerke (DeTeWe) when this machine was developed. This is a rebadged version of the Hamann 500 Automatic. This machine is an enhanced version of the Hamann 300, the first machine to use a ten-ket keypad for number entry. Unique mechanism to this manufacturer. DeTeWe was purchased by Siemens in 1959, who immediately attempted to sell off the Hamann subsidiary. The German office machine companies were not interested, so Hamann turned to Smith Corona Marchant in the US. Hamann became SCM Deutschland in 1960, and this machine was introduced shortly thereafter.

My sincere thanks to Jake and Joel Jacobs for the donation of this machine
